Spelling is more important than ever in this digital age. Yes, there are predictive spell-checkers and this technology helps, but a lot of spelling mistakes slip through. The spell-check software doesn’t know the intended meaning of what has been written and can bypass words which are used in the wrong context. It is the difference between having red a document and having read a document.
I am a skilled, trained proofreader who can provide you with expertise and reassurance from your first contact through to completing work on your document.
Proofreading will check and correct the English used in your work. This means grammar, spelling, typos, formatting, punctuation, syntax and more. It ensures your work is accurate and correct.
Editing does everything proofreading does and in addition, provides you with advice and feedback for minor changes and rewriting to enhance the structure, clarity, tone, and flow of your work to ensure your work is right for your audience.
I will read through your work 2 or 3 times to provide a detailed proofread in order to ensure all errors have been identified.
One of the most important parts in finding a proofreader isn’t about prices, rates, services or deadlines, it’s about trust. You’re going to be entrusting your work (which you’ve spent many hours writing, refining and honing) to someone else. You want to make sure the “someone else” is a person you believe will treat you and your work with respect, courtesy, and skill.
PRICING
Everyone’s (least) favourite subject
I will provide you a fixed-price for your work with an estimate of the time required to complete the job factoring in other work I have at the time.
Good editing is a skilled profession, and skilled editors need to charge accordingly for their time. I don’t want to give you the cheapest possible quote to secure your work and then produce substandard work due to inadequate time in which to do the job.
I provide transparent quotes with no hidden costs. (I will never charge for anything that isn't in my original quote, unless the scope of the work changes.) In order to do this I need to know what degree of proofreading you require:
Just a light polish; dealing with spelling, grammar and correct word choice
Or editing suggestions; to move or change text so as to refine your tone and approach while clarifying your key points and strengthening your manuscript.
